  • Description: Bacterial keratitis or bacterial corneal ulcer is an 'inflammation of the eye's cornea' (called keratitis) that results from infection by a bacterial organism. The pathogen most commonly found are Psudomonas aeruginosa, pneumococcus, staphylococcus. Prescipitating factors include contact lens wear, especially soft contact lenses worn overnight and corneal trauma. Treatment with fortified (high concentration) topical antibiotics, given at least every hour night and day for the first 24 hours
