  • Description: Psoriasis is a common benign, acute or chronic inflammatory skin disease that appears to be based upon a genetic predisposition. The lesions are red, sharply defined plaques covered with silvery scales which is usually itchy and sometimes pain. Psoriasis may occur in the scalp, elbows, knees, palms, soles, nails, and back. In psoriasis, the life cycle of skin cells speeds up, resulting in a multitude of dead cells on the skin's outer layer. The treatment is to suppress the growth of skin cells. This skin disease is not contagious.
